The Adventures of Sam the Snake chronicles the recent months in 7-year-old Elliot’s life. His debut release includes a tale of having his beloved bicycle stolen, his mom finding the guys fencing it on the street and her buying it back (“Woom Woom Zoom Zoom”); a punky manifesto on “proper” eating habits (“Snack Snack Breakfast Dinner”), with a shredding guitar solo by Bonesaw (Full Service); the true saga of “Danger Blue,” a golf disc that was used to play catch, until everyone realized that its super-hard plastic consistently destroyed the hands of those trying to snag it; “Swede Hill Bicycle Gang,” a manifesto for young crime fighters on two wheels; the related “Mr. Bike,” which features our hero on a Target-purchased piano; and “Niagara Falls,” which shows the gestation of the young artist and a peak into his soul. It’s hard to characterize this album, other than to say it's a bit of twisted rock pop (Beatles, XTC) sung by a 7 year-old. It's decidedly not Raffi, or the Wiggles. But, then again, there's not much out there that compares.
